National Care Home Open Day a Great Success at Clonlee
After all the plans and phone calls the Big Day eventually arrived and the residents really had a day to remember.
It started of with a visit from our Deputy Mayor Vera McWilliams in the morning and after a look around the home accompanied by Nurse Manager Pepsi and wee chats with residents she met on the way she was delighted to have morning tea with the ladies and gentlemen at the Monday Club.
They had a morning of reminiscence about Queen Elizabeth as we were celebrating her birthday. There were also stories to be heard about visits to London and Windsor from Joan Cosgrove and the residents themselves.
Vera delighted the residents with her tales of seeing and meeting members of the Royal family. Alas Vera had to attend other meetings but she thanked everyone for making her so welcome and congratulated Pepsi on a very warm and welcoming Nursing Home.
After a barbeque lunch we welcomed in members of the public and friends and family to join in the sing-a-long with Antrim’s Men’s Shed. It was a very merry and jovial afternoon when everyone joined in the choruses of songs we all know and love. Tea and coffee with birthday cake was served after all the singing.
Jim O’Sullivan, Men’s Shed, thanked Clonlee for inviting them back again to entertain, and said it is always a pleasure, due to the food and the welcome.
