Massereene Manor Residents Enter into the Spirit of Halloween

The residents in both John Irvine house and Adeline house had a spooktacular time at their recent Halloween parties with both relatives and residents helping to make buns ably assisted by Activity Therapist Bernie and Voluntary Worker Alice.
Typical festive Halloween activities include trick or treating, carving pumpkins into Jack O Lanterns and telling scary stories or watching horror films. All Hallows’ Eve is another name for Halloween, but we all know it as Halloween as it has become more commercialized. Because many Western Christian denominations encourage, although no longer require abstinence from meat on All Hallows’ Eve the tradition of eating vegetarian foods for this day developed hence the tradition of “ bobbing” for apples.
Bernie Activity Thetapist, Massereene Manor commented:
“We had plenty of laughs this Halloween as the residents and staff threw themselves into the party with gusto – some of the residents felt some of the staff looked spooktacular in their Halloween costumes. Nevertheless many thanks to everyone involved in making it such a wonderful party which was greatly appreciated by everyone who entered into the spirit of Halloween – no pun intended.”
