Glenkeen made it a December to remember!

The week running up to Christmas was busy in Glenkeen House between carol singing, Christmas party and celebrations on Christmas Day! Our amazing activity therapist Michaela did an amazing job decorating the home in Christmas decorations with snowflakes and Santa’s legs dangling from the ceiling.

Michaela was able to organise a choir to come in and sing some popular Christmas carols such as, Hark the Herald Angels sing, Silent Night and O’ Holy Night. The staff and residents absolutely loved it and was singing along enjoying themselves getting everyone in the Christmas spirit.

On the 22nd December Michaela, our activity therapist, organised to have a Christmas party for the residents and staff. No uniforms that day, as the staff took the idea to dress up in Christmas outfits which was great fun! We had angels, reindeers elves and of course Santa paid a wee visit as well!

Santa paid a special visit to all the residents and each of them received a present, everyone enjoyed this special moment opening them up. The vibe in the home was magical, everyone getting in the Christmas spirit and spending it with friends.

Give a big shout out to our eldest resident Martha who is 102 years old! She was so pleased Santa came down to her room and was able to get a selfie. The smile on Martha’s face says it all. Glenkeen was able to welcome friends and family to the Christmas party. It was such a great day had by everyone nibbling on some party food – cocktail sausages, sandwiches, sausage rolls and crisps!

The best day of the year arrived in Glenkeen on Christmas Day! The residents enjoyed every minute of this day from start to finish, especially the Christmas dinner they received from the cook. They all scraped their plates and washed it down with a nice glass of Shloer. They all pulled each other’s crackers and placed their party hats on their heads.

All the residents enjoyed their Christmas between Carol singing, Christmas party and their home decorated in Christmas decorations that Michaela had put in a lot of effort and time to do this to try and make it special for everyone and make it a Christmas you remember!
