Drummaul House Staff Commemorate World War Remembrance Day with the Residents.
Staff and residents held a world war remembrance day to commemorate all the Servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
Peggy who is the daughter of our own Anna Irons who established Irons bakery in Harryville, Ballymena made everyone a favourite from the rations recipe book used during the war. We had great fun reminiscing about how to make food go further some said they bulked out fruit cake with potatoes and the men never knew! Also tips how to satisfy their sweet tooth without the sugar.
Peggy made all the residents ‘ tattie apple’ which is potato bread and stewed apples inside everyone asked for seconds.
Ken also played our requests on his keyboard everyone was clapping and singing along.
A BIG THANKS to everyone who made an effort to make the day extra special.
