Ballyclare May Fair Returns After 3 Year Absence and Is A Hit as Always with Clareview Residents and Staff

Ballyclare May Fair is always a highlight in the calendar at Clareview Private Nursing Home and this year was no exception.  It truly is a week full of family fun activities, amusements, street performers, local movies, tea dance, shows and much more.

A May Fair has been held annually in Ballyclare since 1756, when the Marquis of Donegal granted a deed for a horse and hiring fair to be held in the town.

After a 3 year absence this year’s festival was a mixture of the traditional horse fair, local music and entertainment combined with traditional craft demonstrations and workshops. Back by popular demand, the exciting Soapbox Derby race returned and was a true spectacle to enjoy.

On Thursday night Samuel, Maureen and George wrapped up and enjoyed watching the Soapbox derby with a nice cuppa!

The colourful May Fair Parade on Saturday 28 May was naturally the highlight and  hosted many participants and local groups, live music delighting fans of all ages.

So residents and staff enjoyed a great week  in high spirits  and cannot wait until the return in 2023.
